Kinda figured they would because the Umbrella release was cancelled from Deepdiscount for pre-order.

I hope this is a better transfer with far far better AQ. The copy I have the AQ is so low. You basically, have to have to volume set to max just to hear it.

Have they released any updates on this?

I got to see a screening of their/Umbrella/Second Sight's restoration this past weekend. Looked and sounded great. And once I saw the label logos at the beginning, I figured it was some sort of promotional screening for an impending release.

BUT, nothing was announced/said at the screening. I can't find anything on Severin's social media beyond the "guess the screenshot" post from September.
Second Sight has a release date of 3/11 (Umbrella might have a date too, haven't looked)....but, not a peep out of Severin. I even asked if there was any new info on their FB page, beyond "early 2019". No reply so far.

Debating just importing the Second Sight disc, assuming it's also region free like THE CHANGELING was.

Well, this will be another release that will go head-to-head with a foreign counterpart (Umbrella is also releasing this) so unless Severin wants to lose customers (again) they'll announce something soon.

Yeah. I've already got the Second Sight version in my cart on Amazon UK. Roughly 27 USD after the Global Priority shipping. Might just pull the trigger anyway, and unless Severin's is announced soon at a much cheaper price point with packaging I prefer, I'll just stick with that.

*EDIT**
Per a comment on their FB page, they've said announcement and actual release are coming "VERY soon"

Coming to Blu-ray 2/26 from Severin Films!
Tony Williams “Next of Kin”!
It’s been hailed as “skin-crawlingly real” (Horror News), “a jaw-dropping achievement” (Moon In The Gutter) and “a giallo that rivals Argento’s DEEP RED” (Scary Minds), yet has remained largely unseen in America. Now experience “one of the greatest horror movies of the 20 th Century” (Goomba Stomp) for the first time ever…and like never before: When a young woman inherits a creaky retirement home, she’ll find herself in a waking nightmare of murder, madness and a legacy of evil that may be inescapable. Jackie Kerin, John Jarratt (WOLF CREEK) and Alex Scott (ROMPER STOMPER) star in this “stylish and creepy must-see” (The Digital Fix) – featuring an intense synth score by Klaus Schulze of Tangerine Dream – now transferred from original Australian vault elements and packed with all-new Special Features.

Widescreen 1.77:1

DTS 5.1 Surround

“Commentary with Director Tony Williams and Producer Tim White

That's one of the ugliest slips I've ever seen. Plus, it looks too modern for a film from 1982. The regular art is nothing special, either. Nevertheless, very excited about picking this up. Never seen the film but it always pops up on lists of MIA titles that need to be released.

Both editions of Next of Kin appear to be "In Stock" on Severin's site, but the release date is listed as February 26th. So, are they shipping now?

Yes, I don't care for that slip at all, but the regular cover art with the girl in front of the mansion/house is nice. I've never seen this film or even heard of it until now, but it has my interest.

Good question. I just placed my order for the slipcover edition and noticed that it says "in stock" and not "pre-order."

They always say in stock for the pre orders... it’s nothing new.

Good to know. I rarely order directly from them unless they offer an exclusive to their site.

Man, I just can't decide if I want that slip. I mean, I do want it, I like it, but I know that I'll be able to purchase the standard edition at Deep Discount for around $18 or so. So basically, the question is, do I want to pay $10-$12 for that sweet slip?

I gotta think about this a little more...

Hey guys, question for the peanut gallery. What is the consensus on Next of Kin? Severin's page says that it's "a giallo that rivals Argento’s DEEP RED", but you know - marketing, so I take that with a grain of salt.

I've never heard of it, but the trailer looks ****ing amazing and I'm thinking of ordering a copy with my Invasion of the Blood Farmers. Any thoughts?

I’ve never heard of this either, well that’s not exactly true, to me, Next of Kin is the 80’s movie with Patrick Swayze and his rural country relatives vs the mob.
