Default Why is there no kids in open world games?

I was playing Red dead redemption on PS3 and realized there are no kids. I started thinking about how SaintsRow and GTA don't have them either. I did a google search and seems like the publishers don't want issues with people killing kids but this can not be it, can it?

There were kids in Fallout 3 and Skyrim. And they were invincible. Couldn't even take a kid down with a Fatman.

I guess they drew the line at banging a hooker in the alley and then murdering her for your $100 back...

On the PC versions of the Bethesda games, you can install the mods to make kids killable...

This is my point why is this so okay but they draw the line with kids. It just mind boggles me. I didn't mean to step out of line but was just curious.

The first Silent Hill had kid zombie things.

EDIT: Apparently they were only in the US version.

In the PAL and NTSC-J version of the game, these creatures were replaced by Mumblers, as their appearance was deemed too similar to that of a child by censors

Also why not rape? And pedophilia? And why can't I walk into every building? And why can't I look in every window? And why don't I ever have to drink water and eat food? And why don't I have to go to the bathroom? And why don't I get tired from walking all the time? And how can I stay awake so long? And why doesn't anyone react negatively to me as I'm a mass murdering sociopath? Why doesn't anyone ever notice I never clean myself or change my clothes? Why can't I walk over this rock? Why do I have to jump over it? Why do I not react realistically to bullet wounds? Why don't I ever have cuts and bruises?

If you're really jonesing to murder a child in a video game, buy Fallout 2 and Ultima V! Then you can murder children till they're dead. Then do something else because the children are dead.

Never said I wanted to murder a child was just odd there not there. Everything else you pointed such as rape and eating those are actions .

The only reason I bring it up is because through out Red Dead there is random events that happen. I never take the time to go help out the people being mugged and I realized what if there was a child kidnapped. I don't know why but I would then go help. I didn't mean to stir up any problems

It's not a problem. Your question is fixating on one aspect of a video game. There are a lot of things not in Red Dead Redemption.

That is interesting, I never even thought about that. Makes sense I suppose, but then again I guess killing defenseless women is okay but children are not? It's a matter of morals and whatnot being placed on the games I suppose.

Interesting topic, though.

Personally, I don't like the idea of creating the opportunity of fueling the problematic behaviours surrounding adults and children. There are far too many people who can see the moral implications to living like a murdering sociopath. However, in the confines of ones own home where the cloak of privacy is so heavy and children spend much of their time? This could lead to troublesome activity by spurning unfavourable desires in those who don't encounter their terrible desires on a regular basis.

Let's keep things the way they are... even if there is an option to do good for video gam children characters as well.
