Synopsis
He has taken his camera to parts of the world no other director would dare go and told stories in ways no one had ever considered. These eleven films illustrate why Werner Herzog is the most daring, visionary and dangerous filmmaker of our lifetime -- the director that both Milos Forman and François Truffaut have called "the greatest filmmaker alive today."

This is great news. I'm conflicted on the packaging, I like a regular case more than the oddly shaped case they used for the first set, but now the two will look weird next to each other. Obviously, that doesn't really matter, but still.

Bring on a Region A release of My Son, My Son, What Have Ye done, please.

I acquired a Canadian Region Free blu some time ago, but it appears to OOP, now.

I will definitely get this and "Fire in the Sky".

I believe (if I'm not wrong), that this is the world debut of "Signs of Life" on blu ray.

Exactly what I was thinking. I'm not too ocd on packaging overall, but I can be on consistency with related movies/sets.

Still no Land of Silence and Darkness? That's his best documentary work IMO. To have one set miss it may be regarded as misfortune. To have two miss it looks like carelessness.

Here's hoping the BFI does a volume 2, since I'm not biting on the Shout sets since there is still a lot of duplication from the BFI set going on with volume 2.

Ooops. (I did know it was on the BFI set, since that's how I saw it).

I must have got which sets it appears on mixed up in my head with Handicapped Future, which is still a UK exclusive because I've just double checked.

Great that "Signs of Life" (Lebenszeichen) and "The Wild Blue Yonder" finally get a official Blu-ray relesase.

Bummer that "Scream of Stone" (Cerro Torre: Schrei aus Stein) is missing.

I know. I've wondered about "Scream of Stone" for some time with all of these box sets.

It must be entangled in some kinds of rights issue.

I'm familiar with everything in this collection but The Wild Blue Yonder, that's one I haven't seen yet. Really looking forward to this release.

No, they never said that, and have been putting out a steady stream of Select titles. Were you perhaps thinking of Arrow's Academy line?

I've always believed it was an influence on Stephen King's "The Shining".

The film is from 1968 in Germany, and was shown at the 1968 New York Film Festival. King's novel was published in 1975.

I'm not saying King ripped it off directly or anything, I just think he may have seen it and it may have influenced him.

The German release also looks to be OOP, though the French and Dutch releases are listed on Amazon for €5.
