It may be uncut (r-rated Version is for us uncut, because it was its initial releasing rating). Cliffhanger was on the Index with the old FSK18 rating, but January it seems to be down from the list with a new FSK Rating for the Version with the same running time as the normal r-rated.

The only thing I don't like about the artwork is the word 'Uncut' under the title.

I thinks its the scene where Stallone lifts that guy onto the spike? I also thought the bit where Craig Fairbrass was beating him up was cut a bit.

I remember the UK DVD release of Cliffhanger was heavily cut. The scene when the English terrorist beats up one of the good guys was cut to ribbons as well as a number of other scenes.

The cover artwork is crummy. Besides, the back probably is filled with German text.

The Film was only available in a "cut" version in Germany.
The uncut US version was newly rated this year and got approval for FSK16

The US version had to be cut to get an R rating and then the rest of the world got that same version.
And then Carolco went bankrupt.

I want the uncut version of this movie, Die Hard 2 and Total Recall
I wonder who has all of the original footage.

Are you sure? All previous cuts were waived in 2008 so there shouldn't be any cuts unless they put an older cut version on BD.

During editing the film was cut to get an audience friendly R certificate in the US. However in the UK further cuts were required to the cinema and home versions. This included the scene where the British character is fighting and then kicking a guy on the ground whilst saying I am a football hooligan or similar. The BBFC cut as they at the time considered it would encourage copycat violence. The UK BD is now uncut and same as R rated version as BBFC now more lenient on violence in action films. Is same in Germany.

What you can not get is the original version before it was edited for the R rating. As said above is same with Total Recall another Caroloco (sp ?) film. No clue if these cut bits still exist.
