It's not getting a wide theatrical release in France?!

This is what is up now. The date is real. Whether it will stay is an entirely different matter. We will have to wait and see.

I expect to see the film released on Blu-ray in the U.S. as well.

May 17th.

So the July 15th date seems a bit off. Unless some sort of deal has been made.

With the UK theatrical release up in the air (and perhaps indefinitely too, if legal talks spiral) I welcome this release being so soon! I was planning on going to Paris for opening day anyway, but this might be worth holding out for.

Tree of Life wins Palme d'Or for best picture at the Cannes film festival

Quote:
U.S. director Terrence Malick won the Palme d'Or for best picture at the Cannes film festival on Sunday for "The Tree of Life," a meditative, metaphysical epic starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn.

Only his fifth feature, the contemplation on the origins of life and where we go when we die was among the firm favorites to walk off with the coveted award, one of the most prized in the movie calendar after the Oscars.
Ok, I can wait until Oct. 12.

I fail to see what's so horrible about it, but "Hi opinion, meet opinion" I guess.

The composition, the different size of pictures of the cast, the text that is scattered randomly all over. The Standard edition looks a lot better.

Not a great cover, but the UK one is 10 times worse.

Looks like they've changed the artwork

Nicer than the US release! Plus a 28 page book, 95 minute making of and interviews.

Hopefully the extras are reasonably English-friendly, although I don't expect the book will be :-(
