I read an article that said that Sony has delayed their blu-ray player again for the second time to October. A Sony rep assured everyone that the ps3 would launch on November 17th. That's not the point though, I was wondering why Sony has delayed their player. It could be that Sony is planning to include something exclusive on their player. Anyone know?

I read an article on hdmi 1.3 and it would make sense to delay the player to add in the new feature. I've also read that Samsung's blu-ray player hasn't done very well so far.

Samsung's player hasn't even officially launched yet so the numbers would probably not be all that impressive due to the fact that not a lot of places are selling them (no place actually should be selling them) Also, from what I understand, the Samsung player has issues with HDMI (just like the Toshiba HD-DVd player). I actually kind of hope that the Sony Blu-Ray player was delayed for the HDMI 1.3. Now that they've finalized everything for HDMI 1.3, I really hope the next set of players actually use it so that we can start to use these new HD audio formats.

I think delays should result in the following:
The HD audio codecs and HDMI 1.3 ready, at the very least, in all hardware, for October and beyond. Obviously any of the software issues we're seeing now also need to be rectified by that time period. In other words: Make October the "real" Blu-Ray launch. |

I totatlly agree. I feel real bad for Sony because they haven't recieved a lot of support lately, since E3. Everyone is wondering why the delays. I think it's for the best.

Sony has lately been falling apart as a company.
