Default Mounting my new bi/dipole surrounds

My new speakers look great and are very simple to mount if I do not have my banana plug's connected to them.

As you can see in the picture on the site, the banana plug inserts on the speaker (where I connect my cable) protrudes about 1/2 inch out of the back. This prevents me from mounting the speaker flat onto the wall. I can mount the speaker, but the protruding inserts make the speaker hang a little, and I am worried I am damaging my plugs and back of the speaker.

I have found a solution, and that is to just not use my banana plugs and use the "ghetto" bare wire way. But I would much rather use my banana plugs. I have thought about drilling into the wall to let the banana plug insert into the wall.

Is there any easier way to do this?

Also, if I have to, is there anything wrong with just keeping my speaker flat on the wall and wiring it without the banana plug?

Kind of a terrible picture, but hopefully you can get an idea of my issue.

my wires come from the sealing,so what i did is i broght them between bracket and speaker and "getto" wired from the top. wired really good, and speaker is perfectly straight to the wall (in my case it was pannel). looks pretty clean and you cannot tell if ithas banana plug there or not.

Use spade connectors instead of banana plugs.

Depends on the clearance and the length of the spade shaft. I tried some spades for my Axiom surround that is wall mounted, but the spades still stuck out at 45 degrees from the base of the binding post. So it still pushed the speaker from the wall. From the pics, the HTD surround does not have much clearance or even space around the binding posts. I would just attach the wire the "ghetto" way (which is the way I ended up doing it). If you really want to use plugs, you can build a backing, about 1 to 1.5 inches thick, for the surround so it "floats" away from the wall. Then cut a channel in the backing to accommodate the plugs.

Don’t get the wrong idea about banana plugs, they are mainly/only for convince. They are just to make it easy to connect and dis-connect quickly.

When I replied to your PM, I didn’t know what your real question was.

The side speakers I put up, I mounted a thin board the same width as the speaker.

I felt more secure with mounting the thin board into the stud, by using the screws in the center of the board. I then used the wide part of the board to mount the wide speaker.

The thin board caused enough space to allow the banana plugs to be used.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I'm just going to use bare wire into the speaker, and banana plugs into the receiver for now.
