Default 46GT30 or 42VT30???

I am about to enter the world of plasma TV's next month upgrading from my sony LCD ive narrowed it down and ive got my budget in place but i just cant decide between the bigger screen of the 46GT30 or the higher model but smaller screen of the 42VT30, i sit about 6 foot away to play PS3 and about 8 foot to watch movies...

Both will come with 2 pairs of glasses and both will cost the same, any advise? what would you do??????

Many thanks

hey buddy, I have to tell u one thing which might help u make your decision easier. If u plan on watching 3d movies and playing 3d games. Even something as little as 5 inches of bigger screen can make a ton of difference. I worked my ass off to get a 55inch gt30. Ive had it for a month now, when we compare this to my brother's 50 inch sony 3d tv which is in the same house as me. There's just certain 3d effects and 3d feel that is much more detailed and more fun on the gt30 ( bigger screen). There's tons of effect we werent really able to pick them off that easily on the 50 inch when we watched Drive angry 3d. Then we watched it on bigger screen and saw a few things much more drastic level on the 55 inch screen. So i would suggest go for the bigger screen if u can. If 3d really matters to u.

Why did you put yourself in this situation? The VT is the higher model but you gotta judge for yourself at a electronics retail store. If it was my money I would go with the GT model because of the size difference and it looks great. I own the Panasonic TC-P42GT25 and its the best tv I've had in my short life....so far.

I would suggest bigger sized model is better. As far as clarity goes I bet you will not see much of a difference in picture clarity between GT & VT models.Or better still go in for a ST model 50 inches.
The choice is yours !
For me size does matter.

love,
kris.

thanks for your replies guys, yes i am leaning more towards the bigger screen as im upgrading form a 40'' and fear that the 42'' wont be that much different i will defo be watching 3D films and games ( cant wait the play uncharted 3 again) so if you think size is very important that may be the winner....

to be fair i am struggling to find people/examples of the VT30 being lot better than GT30 just the it has slight better blacks etc... but will that really out weight the chance to have a larger more immersive screen?????

The 3D PQ will be the same for both sets so I would go with the 46GT30 if I had to choose between those two. IMHO I would save up a little more and try getting a 50" or larger for 3D. But I understand of having a budget..

yeah i know i would if i could but cant increase the budget with wife, child family holiday etc this is the most i could get authorised by the boss haha ...

right ok after a quick search i have found a 50GT30 in my price range, does this seem like a no brainer...????

only added problem is my tv stand has a hanging bracket and its states it will hold up to 47" adn a weight of 25kg and the 50GT30 is 25.5kg so will prob need a new stand too.....

Get the 50". You may want to contact the vendor of your stand to see if the .5kg is that big of an issue. I went from 37" to 50" and loved every minute of it. I sit about 8-9 feet from it. The funny thing is that over the years, it seemed to have got a lot smaller than I remember it being.

The GT should be fine. Unless you are a total videophile, you probably will never notice the difference between the two sets.

If you can afford the the 50GT30 then grab it. Prices will continue to drop on these sets since the new GT50 series coming out. But when they drop in prices they tend to fly of the shelves...

I doubt the .5 will make a difference but like someone stated call to verify.. You never know. Most stands are rated a little less by manufactures to cover themself...

If you call their Technical Support (if they have one), they are usually not the sales guy type of personality and will just give you the facts.
