SASAMI - Squeeze
Jenny Hval - Classic Objects
Destroyer - Labyrinthitis
Mitski - Laurel Hell
Animal Collective - Time Skiffs
Venom Prison - Erebos
Rolo Tomassi - Where Myth Becomes Memory
David Bowie - Toy
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Unlimited Love
Cate Le Bon - Pompeii
Cat Power - Covers

Only two albums I listened to so far. PUP released two singles that I really like. But February is where all my anticipated albums come out (Animal Collective, Mitski, Big Thief)

None out that I have a desire to listen to. And so far, the year is shaping to be that way as a whole. Kind of interested in the Cowboy Junkies' new one, but 4 of them have already been previously released. So it sort of feels like a rarities collection with some new tracks tacked on. Which wouldn't be problem, if the release wasn't only 9 songs.

...I'm pretty confident this will be one of my favorite releases this year. (I just got it today.)

I have to amend my statement, as I am looking forward to the new Red Hot Chili Peppers record. The first single is one of their best in quite some time. That's the thing with these "surprise" releases. You have no idea when they're coming, so you can't say for sure how the year's going to turn out. Before, you knew when something was coming out months in advance. However, back in the day (90's) were the real surprise releases cause you would see an album by one of your favorite bands coming out in a week or has been out for quite some time and you didn't know. Unless you read Rolling Stone, had a magazine subscription, or something. There was no internet to announce things for EVERYONE to see. It was truly a surprise. I can remember finding about 3 albums back in the day close to the bone:

Edie Brickell and New Bohemians - Ghost of A Dog (found out a week before release in the Sam Goody's store)
The innocence Mission - Umbrella (found out about in store as it was released)
Suzanne Vega - Tom's Album (found out about it at a local record store out of town)

That last one wasn't due for a little while either. Man, those were the days. And yes, this old fogey fart is lamenting about the good old days and how it sucks now. I know. Don't need to come and comment.

Very interesting album cover art. This reminds me that I am excited for another album due to come out. And perhaps the most important album to ever release in over 30 years. it's the debut album from Ryan Chambers, a.k.a. me. Finally going to live out a lifelong dream, I hope. I've got the music tracked and ready. Just need to finish the mixing, mastering, packaging, art, and all that. Also need to decide on vocals or not. All but one of the songs has lyrics. The only one that doesn't is at this point an instrumental song.

Still need to jump into Big Thief, but I added 4.

Next big albums I’m excited for, PUP, Destroyers, & Jenny Hval!

Squeeze by SASAMI just jumped to number 1. Need to listen to Jenny H Al’s new album and I can see that new PUP album and the new Destroyer albums putting up a fight.

Wet Leg - Chaise Longue (Live on Later) - YouTube
Just played this after passing by it so often. I am officially stoked for this. That is a terrific song and the band is awesome. Though they pronounce chaise longue wrong, which is really annoying. But otherwise, fantastic. Thanks for the heads up.
