I would have thought that maybe it would be released next year as it would be the films 20th anniversary. However, considering LATT is coming out in Feb, then Finding Nemo is supposed to be coming out and then Cinderella, I can't see Disney releasing yet another (especially a Classic). Could be a couple years yet.

Knowing Disney they'll probably say "let's convert it to 3D first" and then they'll think about releasing it on Blu-ray. And I actually wouldn't be against it, I watched it on DVD again quite recently and there were a few moments where I thought "this could work quite well in 3D".

Yeah, it's very likely that's what they'll do actually

this was one of the first movies I ever watched in a theater and it was the very first pre-recorded VHS tape we ever bought so I have a special place in my life for this movie and I would give anything to see it in full HD with a proper restoration and awesome special features. BUT I only want it if they do it right or else keep it in the vault and wait till it can be done properly.

Disney's Aladdin has been on almost everyone's wishlist for Blu-Ray release seriously for the past 18 months. It got to the point where I got confused into believing it WAS to be released sometime during 2012. Of course it was the rumor mill working overtime. 1992 marks the 20th Anniversary. Still no news from Disney.

has there been an HDTV presentation of it at least? IF not that could mean they are still working on the remastering it.

I think ABC Family or Disney Channel or both had it on a couple of months back and on my on screen guide it had the "[HD]" next to the title.

Whenever Disney does get around to releasing the BD, I wonder how much tinkering they will do with the songs and other little cues...
