Looking for some new films to watch. I remember reading a thread a while back where a member was asking for people to recommend his next purchase and then he'd buy it. I'm kind of copying it here, hehe.
![]() Take a look at my collection for stuff I'm into but I'll give a quick rundown here: My faves are gangster type films, dark/twisted thrillers, murder/mystery and I'm a huge fan of foreign films (which I really want to tap into more, especially Korean and European). Not really looking for Hollywood blockbuster films currently, unless I'm missing something that fits my fave genres that I don't already own/might have seen. I'm looking for films which really pull you in with the plot. Big fan of dark/gloomy films. Foreign films are high on my list if any of you out there have some recommendations. Thanks. ![]() |

Also, give Brick a go if you haven't seen it already. It's a fantastic detective / murder story set against the backdrop of a high school with delicious dialogue and a perfect film-noir-style unravelling mystery plot. As a debut film (for Rian Johnson), it's a brilliant piece of work. |

I'd recommend the Shaitan (2011) region-free blu-ray.
It's a pretty disturbing hindi movie. Like most hindi movies Shaitan contains a number of songs. Doing away with the often predictable dance routines of bollywood one of the songs is staged during a gunfight. After watching this fragment on you tube I just had to order this blu-ray. I would recommend anything but Amelie and The Orphanage, the first one being a trendy studenty type of film that is the epitome of triteness, the second one is overrated because of this del toro guy (can someone please explain how a ghost can have calipers?, NO don't bother)
