The Libertine is one of those films that was fairly roundly trashed by the critics and flopped at the box office, and yet ......... I absolutely loved it.
Can't really fault it to be honest, and Depp gave an outstandingly brilliant performance as the decaying Rochester. In fact, I'd say that it was Depp's best performance, easily outshining his usual 'kooky' characters. I can see why it might not appeal to everyone, but it sure did appeal to me on so many levels. Also major kudos to Rosamund Pike and Samantha Morton in their roles. An easy 10/10 from me. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0375920/combined |
