Ok before Christmas I order few items from amazon.com
3 separate orders all shipped the sameday with standard post selected at check out. amazon shipped 2 via standard post which got delivered yesterday and 1 via DHL global mail for some reason. the one shipped via DHL going by the tracking ID is still sitting in the DHL warehouse for 2 weeks with est delivery of February 1, 2012. dose amazon.com make a habit of randomly shipping via DHL When you select standard mail. or dose anyone know why dhl takes 4- 5 weeks to deliver a parcel that stand mail dose in 7-10days |

Most of the time, any store's shipping method does *NOT* mean any specific carrier; it depends on the size of the order, what kind of shipping deals their warehouses can get, etc. (Edit: That's especially true of Amazon; it's called "Standard Shipping"--*NOT* "standard mail" or "post".) And many stores consider delivery thru zone-skipping consolidators (UPS Mail Innovations, FedEx SmartPost, DHL Global Mail, Streamlite, etc.) to be "mail" since they all eventually give their packages to USPS for final delivery. (In fact, IIRC they all have formal "workshare agreements" with USPS.)
I'd contact Amazon and have them ask DHLGM why they show a February 1 delivery date. (DHLGM won't tell you directly because their customer is Amazon, not you.) Unless it's something like a bad address (or a preorder), there is NO reason for a package to sit nearly an entire month in any carrier's facility; they are *NOT* intended to be warehouses. ![]() (Edit: Even Prime doesn't guarantee you'll get 2-day *air* delivery; if your order's in a warehouse that's within two days' distance by whatever carrier that warehouse uses, they'll send it that way. I've seen Prime packages delivered every way from USPS Priority Mail to UPS Ground--I have a Prime shipment coming that way from Coffeyville, KS right now--to, on release-date preorders where the studio or record label wants to guarantee NO street-date violations, UPS 1-day air from the Lexington, KY warehouse via UPS' central air hub in nearby Louisville.) its amazon which gave that est delivery date. dhl tracking gives nothing other than it being in their shipping warehouse since amazon dispatch it. other 2 orders which came this week had est delivery of jan 25th. I always assume amazon standard shipping was USPS for overseas. this was first time they used DHL i hope they never used them again |

Also, some carriers don't update their tracking information for Standard deliveries, which can make it appear as though it hasn't left their facilities, when it is in fact about to reach to you. And, somehow, some carriers DO keep their parcels stored for some time, I'd like to think to send a plane/container full of them, but I really don't know for sure. Otherwise, I have no explanation why some of them take a month or more to deliver parcels |
