Default Do you rent movies at chain stores or independent stores

I rent mine at independent stores usually they have cheaper prices and a much bigger foreign section.

Totally agree with what you are saying about the independents have better prices and a wider range of movies but unfortunately where I live now..I have no choice but to use Blockbuster.

The only places left to rent in my home town are red boxes. No more rental stores here.

I go to the library. My library gets the stuff on it's release day and usually puts them out on the same day too. It's difficult trying to get stuff because they only get one copy. Better than Redbox if you ask me. It's free and you can't beat free!

I don't rent ever. I don't see the point. It's easier to just blind buy it and on the rare occasion I don't like it (if I wanted to see it I probably would enjoy it) then I just resell it. More often then not you don't lose more then 2-3 bucks at most. That's cheaper then renting.

Chain, as that's the only place where you can rent anything around here.

Both.

1. Netflix -- They have a large selection of old and foreign movies, and it suits my laziness to have the DVDs mailed to my address.

2. Rocket Video -- Independent video store in Los Angeles that has many old classics, Criterion DVDs, and foreign films.

3. Blockbuster Video -- When I can't wait for a recent movie or TV show to ship from Netflix, I just pick it up at the local Blockbuster video store. They seem to have all the new Blu-ray releases. However, the choices there are limited, as they hardly have any old, classic or foreign films.

4. Public Library -- Some of the local libraries have DVDs for rent for free, others for a dollar each. Choices are limited, but I usually will check out a type of film I wouldn't ordinarily watch when it's free.

Blockbuster until they closed all the stores around me. Now its Netflix and RedBox, no independent stores around.

The only video store in area left is Family Video. But more of a buyer than a renter.
