Whoa, look at the response on this thread! Clearly everyone has heard of this one. So, killer bats after the apocalypse, and I have a high tolerance for cheese. Should I pick it up?

the plot sounds much more promising than the movie itself... having said that I have no regrets buying it as I'm a horror-sci-fi fan.

On the rating system that seems to be the norm on this site I'd rate it a 3 out of 5... not a really good flick but it has it's moments....

Here's my review of Chosen Survivors that I posted in the Kino Lorber thread some time ago...

Several diverse people are abducted from their homes and helicoptered to a remote underground shelter in the desert, where they are informed that a global nuclear war is going on above ground and that, due to genetics, intellect, and other factors, they have all been pre-selected as a chosen few to survive the apocalyptic event in order to repopulate the human race. The struggle of this group of strangers to adjust to their sudden new lives and to get along together could have resulted in a gripping and tense movie in itself, but Chosen Survivors throws another macabre wrench into the proceedings. It turns out that the vast subterranean tunnel network that formed the base of the hideout is filled with bloodthirsty vampire bats that soon infiltrate the confines of the bunker and wreak deadly havoc.

Chosen Survivors is a flawed movie that shows its cards entirely too soon, but it still works for me simply because of the insanely claustrophobic premise. This is far from the best of all of those glorious 1970s dystopian sci-fi flicks that feed upon a distrust of the government, but it ultimately delivers the goods. The most recognizable faces in this ensemble cast include Richard Jaeckel (The Dirty Dozen), Jackie Cooper (Superman: The Movie), Alex Cord (Airwolf television series), and Diana Muldaur (Star Trek: The Next Generation).

This Kino Lorber Blu-ray provides an impressive presentation of what was likely never a particularly good-looking film in the first place. Given the source material, I'm inclined to wager that the video presentation and the audio presentation are both spot-on.

This feels like it might make for a fun B-double feature with Nightwing...
