I'm a huge Winterbottom fan living in the US, and this appears to be the only Blu-Ray release of this film anywhere in the world.

Ascot is 50/50 in terms of locking. I've got two of their titles and they're region free, yet one is 1080/50i.

Just checked, Region B locked.

Also, transfer is good not great but well in advance of the SD version.

1) Do you know if it's a BD25 or a BD50? If it's a 25, I could still play it but if a 50, no dice
2) do you know if it's 1080p, or 1080/50i? If the latter, I also probably can't play it.

So glad to find there's another fan of this underrated film.

It's a BD-25, about 19 GB for the feature. 1080P AVC transfer with bitrate between 10-20 MBPS.

However, there is 1080i/50 content on the disc for extras and maybe trailers. I can check when I get home whether any of it plays before the menu or the feature because I assume that would be a problem.

Also, if you're looking to buy, can I recommend Grooves-Inc. It's currently priced at $US14.86. There's shipping of $2.59 if the total order is under $25.87 or free shipping if you can find another german BD to go over that mark.

Thank you!!! Yes, I'd be enormously grateful if you could check on any PAL content that would make it unplayable. If it's just a studio logo, that's okay. My SHALLOW GRAVE BR has one of those and while I see nothing during the logo, it comes and goes fine. However if the menu is in PAL, that could present a problem

You trust this Grooves site then? The prices look a few dollars higher than Amazon.de... Is their shipping faster or more reliable to the US?

sorry didnt get a chance to do it last night, will check in the next day or two and post back.

No issues of trust with Grooves, they're great. Shipping wise, it took a week to get to Australia (from Switzerland), not sure about US.

As for Amazon.de price comparison, some are higher some are lower, but the key is that unless you are buying at least 5-6 items, the shipping at Amazon.de hits you hard. Whereas Grooves has a $2.59 shipping charge (unless you qualify for free shipping).

good news, the menu and feature are 1080p and you can press Top Menu to skip to the menu and past any 1080i/50 content.
