Default PS3 Converts LPCM to DTS Over Optical?!
I don't know when Sony implemented this but the PS3 now converts LPCM to DTS over TOSLINK. It used to just be two-channel LPCM. For this to work, you have to set the PS3 to "Bitstream (Mixed)". That's pretty cool news for anyone still using optical.

Apologies if this is old news. I did a cursory search but didn't find anything.
