Why does The Lord of the Rings Trilogy keep getting cheaper at amazon?
In the the last week it's been inching down from $30 to $26, often 50 cents at a time. I decided to buy it at $27.50, and I've canceled and re-ordered it a few times since then as the price keeps getting lower. Luckily amazon had not shipped it yet. |

I'm surprised that they keep lowering the price 50 cents every day or two. It's not unusual for them to make two price reductions quickly, but I don't recall another title that got so many small price drops within a week.

I am happy with my non-extended trilogy. Not sure why everyone clamors for the longer versions when they are plenty long enough. To each their own I suppose.
I got my non-extended set from Ultimate Electronics when they closed. Paid $21.50. |

![]() Also wondering why there hasn't been a thread about this AND wondering if I should get these or wait on the extended. Never saw the extended and wondering which transfer is better or if both are OK. Too many questions and not enough money... |

I wanted the EE's not because they are longer, but because they are better. The added material deepens the story for a number of characters, and just makes it a more cohesive experience. I'd much rather spend ~11 hours watching the EE's, than ~9 hours watching the TE's. The only part of LOTR that I felt was overly dragged out (or mis-handled) was the ending of ROTK, and it is that way in both editions.

I do prefer the extended edition as well, plus it's not DNR'd to death like the theatricals. I can live with the green tint. |
