I realize this may not be the film most worthy of a Blu release, but I heard that FOX has disowned this movie from a promotional standpoint.
Is there any way that a Blu release could happen? Perhaps FOX could sell the rights? Does anyone have any insight on the status of this film? Last edited by rev.and.ride; 11-18-2008 at 08:58 PM. |

Mike Judge has got to get away from Fox. They hate his movies. They didn't support Office Space, and they didn't support Idiocracy. Both movies have become highly quoted cult classics that thrived once they got seen.
With all of the cookie-cutter dreck that gets the green light nowadays, I'd think that a studio would fall all over itself to support a guy that produces memorable work of this caliber. Find a new studio, Mike! |

Fair enough that they don't like it, but I don't buy that it isn't big enough. If Fox can release In The Name Of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, they can certainly release Idiocracy.

Like "Office Space", it's praised to the skies by people who WANT to believe it's good on what they mythologize the theme to be about, and because it was from the director of "Office Space".
![]() "Office", however, wasn't theatrically dumped in a handful of midwest cities without promotion. (At least the thread hasn't gotten around to aforementioned "symbolic" praises of "But at least it had an important THEME!"-- Uh, yeah, and was handled better in a handful of books that spring to mind, most of which were comparatively lighter on the "boner" jokes. ![]() |
