Default UK Region Free Blu-Ray Player

I'm looking to get a new Blu-Ray player for downstairs, it has to be both Region Free and 3D capable as i'm also in the process of upgrading the TV!

I saw a thread on region free players but most was concerned with the US so really i'm looking for people who've bought decent region free players in the UK.

Thanks for your help guys.

Can the PS3 Slim play region free Blu-rays? Manual doesn't say.

Any player can handle a Region Free title. Mainly because there's no region coding assigned to the disc.

Thanks for answering, but this would appear to disagree (from http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question...3030405AAT00N6):

"No, PS3 is not Region Free for DVD and is not Zone Free for Blu-ray out of the box. Until very recently it was not hackable at all!

PS3 has been a tough nut to crack. Firstly their security was strong, and secondly because of the constant stream of firmware updates which would wipe out any attempts to circumvent the Region/Zone coding. However, there has been some progress."

Is this guy wrong? Have you played Zone Free Blu rays on a PS3?

You're mixing up 2 things. First, a region-free player, second, a region-free BD. If the BD is region-free, it means that it will play in any player regardless of region. A region-free player means that such a player will play any BD from any region whether it's region-free or locked.

I bought one last year and it does work once you put in a code (which I can't remember now), but it is incredibly cheap and nasty. I returned it. I recommend the company I posted above. You pay more, but the service is excellent and you can watch your region A discs on a good quality player.

I don't know, I'm afraid. You can buy region B Breaking Bad discs from amazon.de.
