Canada GRINDHOUSE Planet Terror/Death Proof boxset(s)

Is the BLACK cover just a slipcover for the movie beside it
O
R
are these 2 different boxsets?
Goofy question but, I passed up currently because I'm not sure if there is a difference.

I prefer extended cuts of movies when possible

As well, should I veer away from purchasing it because it has ALLIANCE's logo on the back.
If this has already been answered just point me to the thread.
Thanks for the input!

My set up:
3D capable Sony LED TV
Polk soundbar/subwoofer and don't think I will go 5.1-7.1 system
Sony 3D blu-ray player.

Does this package contain extended versions of the movies or am I better off looking to get them separately?

Disc 1 is Grindhouse, the theatrical cut. Disc 2 is bonus features. If you want the extended "International" versions, you have to buy the separate releases.

Really appreciate the info!
Sounds like I'll have to go with individual movies!

I saw a copy of this one (without slipcover) at HMV for $10

Grindhouse is an entirely different animal

Most people take a look at Grindhouse and say "meh... I'll go with the extended editions of both films"

Grindhouse has the fake trailers, the missing reels, it's just a different experience

Ideally, you should pick up Planet Terror, Death Proof and Grindhouse (which is not all that expensive by the way)

Looking in-store in Canada, the extended editions are running about $25-30 apiece, Grindhouse can be had for $10 (as you mentioned).

Also, people get so uptight about "Director's intentions" when it comes to aspect ratio nowadays, Grindhouse is essentially the "Directors' Cut." Tarantino and Rodriguez intended for the film to be presented as a double feature in North America but were forced into releasing the separate cuts for international audiences, who wouldn't know/understand what a grindhouse was.

Yeahh I absolutely prefer the Grindhouse cut, & not the extended editions of each. This film was meant to feel like a double feature, and not something that was purposely made into 2 films just to weasel a few more $ out of home video purchasers.

Same here...got rid of my individual versions when i picked up the Grindhouse set. IMO its definitely the way to go to get the proper viewing experience.
