Our friends at LitReactor have broken an interesting piece of news regarding the book's sequel, Driven. While details are still scarce, we now know the book should be available as early as April 2012. The publishers of the original novel, Poisoned Pen Press provided this teaser:

"Six years later - Phoenix. Out of nowhere someone wants Driver dead. Who? Why? Big mistake..."

Not a whole lot to go on but it isn't hard to imagine audiences clamoring over another lap with Driver, especially if Ryan Gosling and Refn are involved. With the two teaming up for Only God Forgives, the remake of Logan's Run, and at least one other reported project, we can only hope they find time to work it into their busy schedules.

It says the book would be available in April. I'm sure it'd take a while after that to write a screen play and film everything.

I only care if Gosling is back. I can't imagine he wouldn't be since the sequel of the book deals with the same character.

I'm cautiously optimistic about this one. I'd like to see it but as long as the passion for the material is still there.

Interesting news. Drive is one of my favorite movies this year, so I look forward to seeing how this could turn out. Can it be nearly as good as the first? I don't know...

I know you weren't talking to me, but I loved Drive (top 5 of 2011), and hated Tree of Life (bottom 2 of 2011).

As for "Driven," sounds like just another unccessary money-grab. Well, I suppose movie producers need to eat too.

This is sort of what I thought too.
I thought the movie was great. I don't feel the urge to have a sequel.
Perhaps I'll be surprised.

its not like Drive was blowing up the box offices, dont see how it could be seen as a "money-grab". not to mention the fact that there is no indication that a film is being planned.

I still would have spoilered that, in spite of the fact that you were contradicting prior opinions. Whichever is true in the ending, it doesn't change my appreciation for the film.
