My thinking when I first started buying Blu-rays was that I was only going to replace my favourite films,I have long left that thought behind and am quickly replacing my DVD collection as well as blind buys, digibooks and steelbooks so to answer your question, probably only when 4k becomes mainstream and we start all over again

I definitely feel like i have to slow down. I have just over 430 blu rays and it does seem like it's getting a bit ridiculous now

I don't think I'll stop until its made to look like a DVD in comparison by the next format. I don't think any collection can ever be complete.

As long as they keep making movies I like, I’ll keep buying them.

Unsure. I am trying to slow down however and I get a sense that I have bought well over half the films I want to own. My wish list is now filled with only films that are 'classic' in my opinion. I am also resisting buying films just to complete a franchise. That means avoiding crap like AVP Requiem.

Requiem sucked .AVP wasn't as bad as people say and the Alien queen breaking out at the end is pretty cool .

I have about 380 and i am seriously thinking about slowing down, my problem is not the number of films but where to store them. My wifde constantly moans about the amount of shelf space they take up. It doesn't help that I am a collector of limited editions as most of those are very oversized.

thats puts things into perspective.
I though reaching over 100 just after xmas was excessive (and I was an early adoptor back in the format war days)

I guess I'll stop when I have complete collections in Disney, Marvel etc, if/when there are no movies I want and when there's a new format and I have to start replacing all over again

I was very much in the DVD mindset until a few months ago, as the OCD part of me didn't want mixed formats

I got over that and now only buy blu, apart from the titles from Mr Bongo and Second Run who only release DVDs, and the few titles that BFI and Eureka/MOC release on DVD now

I don't have a set target as I have titles like The Maltese Falcon (I really want on this blu ray), On The Waterfront, Rebel Without A Cause, A Streetcar Named Desire, Jimmy Cagney and a lot of other films from the 30s to the 70s to get, as and when they are released. Not to mention catalogue titles like Casablance which I don't own yet

I'm not worried about space as if I have the DVD, then as long as all the extra features are on the blu-ray, then the DVD goes

I have about 370 titles at the moment, and although I will never reach the 5000 or so I own or have upgraded from DVD, I would really like to reach 1000

I'm trying not to have too much junk in there as I did with DVD, but I will make the odd concession where I feel it is necessary. I am being more selective over steelbooks as well and have passed on titles like Thor, Captain America, The Green Lantern, Battle: Los Angeles and Cowboys & Aliens, as I don't like the films enough and would rather put the money towards titles I really want

The thing is I have some titles on DVD that I have not watched, and probably won't watch now, as I would prefer to watch them in HD, but I will still keep the DVD until they are upgraded

Agreed. That is why I felt AVP was just about worth owning and I know on a quiet Sunday evening I may feel like watching it.

I have slowed down. My problem is storage. Need to have a proper clear out come spring to free up space in the house.

United Kingdom Please don't use nonsensical ungrammatical titles.

When 4k material and equipment becomes mass market available then I will stop buying bluray & start afresh.
