The BD disc itself is almost transparent, so that was the first thing I checked, but it played perfectly.

Are the SteelBooks sealed, or have they been opened as usual?

Paramount made a big mistake with this one by not giving holder for an additional disc.

It possible that HMV UK may release TF3 Steelbook with 3D / 2D / Extras disc.

Very simple solution to this, throw out dvd copy and replace with 3d blu-ray. Whats the issue?

The Steelbook can only hold 2 discs. The 3D version is likely to be 3 discs (3D + 2D + Extras disc) unless Paramount decides to use a single disc to feature both 3D + 2D versions.

My plan is to buy this steelbook, then later on when I purchase a 3d tv buy just the 3d disc off of someone else and replace the dvd with it in the steel book case. Two slots in the steel book for the 2d and 3d blu rays. No worries.

Snap the 3D disc, and throw it away. Problem solved.

Just curious, is the NZ steelbook identical to the German release, in terms of front, back coverarts and inside?

I assume so, looks like it from the pictures. Havn't actually physically seen the German one.
