Default Blu-ray Standard

Hi guys

So I have been fooling around with Blu- ray and my Sony BPP-S300 and lerking around this site for a few months now. The deal is that some of the stuff on BR is wonderfull and some of the stuf is "why bother". I have one BR movie "The 300" and it is great but not a good ref. for picture quality as it has so many special effects, etc.

Now I rent my BR movies from Blockbuster and I am not interested in putting a fortune into a private library of Blu-ray movies. Thats talking real money there for stuff I'll likely watch only once or twice. So the question is-----what are a few Blu-ray movies out there that are universally accepted to be stantards for BR picture quality?

Thanks rbc

Welcom newbie. There are a few like Planet Earth, Casino Royale, Apocalypto, and The Departed. There are plenty of threads regarding this very same topic already, so just use the search tool and have fun.

There are also a few threads regarding the intentional grain in 300.
