Hello,
Confirmation The UK release of Y tu mam tambien is Region-Free. Therefore, you will be able to play it on your PS3 or SA regardless of your geographical location. For the record, there is no problematic PAL or 1080/50i content preceding the disc's main menu. Y tu mama tambien Blu-ray Our review will be up shortly. Pro-B |

The Sapphire series are a series of films released by Paramount which are just sort of, the banner they give to their high profile releases of famous titles. Examples include Braveheart and Forrest Gump... Gladiator also, though that's getting a remaster because it wasn't as impressive a transfer as the others in the series. The forthcoming American Beauty is one as well. In the UK they don't have the 'sapphire' banner on the cases, but they're essentially the same releases and transfers. I held off preordering because of the worry about the regioning and wondered how much the film would really benefit being on blu-ray. I imagine criterion will probably do a better job for their future release, though considering the cost of criterion releases, looks like I'll get the unrated dvd locally.

As far as I know the original rated US dvd was 100 mins and un-rated US NC-17 dvd is 105 mins so I am a little confused. The scene you talk about in (spoiler) is in the UK bluray- just checked it. Just fyi, there is no option in the discs set up options to turn English subtitles on or off...the disc plays back automatically with English subtitles turned on but you can in fact turn them off if you wish if your bluray players remote has a subtitle button (most do). So they are not burnt in subtitles. Last edited by Dubliner1; 07-31-2010 at 11:05 PM. |

Yeah I'm pretty sure that scene was never censored in the UK at all, either in the cinema or on home video - (thank god - best scene in the film!) - it always got an 18 certificate and you can get away with a lot more than 'that' in an 18 film!
