Default The Bridge [2006 documentary]

A question for the folks who have seen this documentary. While watching, did the thought ever cross your mind if the people behind the live cameras ever attempted to call the authorities while these suicidal people paced back and forth across the bridge, or climbed over and sat there contemplating?

There were several suicides where the people had been at the bridge contemplating for a very long time and only once did they show an officer of the law show up.

After some light Wiki research I found that there is a permanent patrol division for the Golden Gate Bridge specifically there to handle jumpers. I found evidence of this patrol as far back as 1996 and the documentary was shot over the entire year of 2004.

If the people behind the camera thought for an instant that someone might try to kill themselves, why not pick up the phone and alert the patrol that is literally seconds away?
