Default UltraViolet digital copy...

Have I missed something? Why are loads of US releases now coming with a digital copy of UltraViolet? Am I being thick?

Are you thinking that they're including a copy of the movie "Ultraviolet?"

Sorry, but I gotta laugh...

Nope, it's the newest form of digital copy technology, in which the movie is streamed from a cloud-like service. You can read more about it (and everybody's griping) here:

[Show spoiler]Truth be told, "UltraViolet" is such a bad movie, there's probably no other way to sell it, but to give it away with other movies.

Man, I was really excited to get a Digital Copy of Drive. Nope, just this ultraviolet junk. Can't get it in my iTunes library with my other Digital Copies.

Ultraviolet is not just a cloud stream technology. You can also download a digital copy of the movie thru UV as well. Not just streaming like you suggest.

The idea is that you no longer have to choose between iPod, Zune (Microsoft Media Player), or what ever other formats that may come out in the future, it'll allow you to switch the format as needed with no additional charges, and it allows you to specify who's accounts can or can't use it also, its a great idea and a step in the proper directions for digital downloads, if it works the way they claim it will.
