Default ADAM Audio

Hey guys,

Anyone own or heard ADAM Audio's GTC series? I am in the market for a solid mid-range system and they received a pretty stellar review at hometheatermag.com. Any other suggestions/contenders? Any info would be most helpful!! Thanks in advance!

Here's the review in case anyone wants to take a look: http://www.hometheater.com/content/a...speaker-system

I'm not sure about their passive speakers, but their active speakers are pretty darned nice and well respected.

Actice speakers have built-in amplifiers. Think of your PC speakers...they are likely "active".

Here's a wiki article.....

Thank you sir.

I was also considering the KEF Q900 series which received high marks in the performance dept for mid-range as well. Any suggestions? I would consider Martin Logan but placement is too critical with them for optimum performance and I don't think I can give them enough space.

I took a peek at entry-level high-end full range speakers and found the Sonics Amerigo line which was apparently designed by a legendary figure and veteran in the audiophile world - Joachim Gerhard.

Of course the dream system is the Revel Ultima2 Salon 2 but I won't get carried away

But how wrong can you go with German engineering? ADAM Audio's technology (X-ART tweeters) is all hand made in-house from Berlin.

I haven't heard these, but I have heard their high-end models for recording studios and those sound absolutely amazing. It's the first speakers I've heard in years that don't make me think I'm deaf.

Funny thing is that I think their studio monitors are nicer looking than these. You'd think they'd make the ones intended for the home to be nicer looking.

For me, one disadvantage is that built-in amplifier. While Definitive Technology also does this (although only for the subwoofer in each of the speakers), I really don't want to have to run power to six (or eight) speakers. Not that I could afford $6K for speakers anyway.

I'm not sold on an active system for HT just yet either, preferring to keep it for 2-channel applications such as a PC setup.

They can be purchased out of NYC at headquarters but as far as demos, I have no idea! Hopefully they scored some dealers at CES...

I was curious to listen to these since everyone who hears them seems to love them but it's impossible in the US....
