Question Sucker Punch - Play.com Exclusive?

There have been a few posts recently in the forum about whether or not certain films will get steelbook releases which can often lead to the forum being cluttered (with Play.com's current run we have enough threads to be getting on with!) and some forum members getting annoyed at clicking a thread's title only to find it's someone asking if a steelbook will ever be made of that film, rather than an announcement of it. Some of the threads regarding rumoured steelbooks (e.g. Play.com's Indiana Jones individual releases) have been locked as, until they're confirmed, they're simply rumours.

So, I thought I'd start this thread to put all of those conversations in one place. Fill this thread with questions to the forumites about if a steelbook will be released, steelbooks you'd liked to see, possible new versions of OOS steelbooks, rumours about possible steelbooks... Basically everything that's not confirmed that you want to hypothesise or enquire about.

Hopefully this'll be win-win - people who want to ask know where to ask and people who aren't fussed can avoid it!

PS: I hope they don't. But I read somewhere that they will release other exclusives as well. I don't have the comic con steelbook, but I'm planning to buy one.

it might hurt your resale market but not the collectors market, collectors will love all the new releases. So if you are planning on financing your college education with scalping SteelBooks, you may be the only one on the losing side.

I am planning to buy the comic-con release, so I dont want Play.com to release a new one.

What do you think? Will Play.com rape the collector's market brutally by releasing the Sucker Punch Comic-Con steelbook as a ''Play.com exclusive''?
What is it with suddenly tossing the word 'rape' around concering Play and steelbooks? Is this the new catchphrase or did a couple of people read it in one post and latch onto it? I'm not a prude about language but it's a serious phrase and, to be honest, using it in this context is both hyperbolic and immature.

Even in the context people mean it in it's a stupid phrase to use. Play isn't "raping" anyone's steelbook collections or the collector's market.

I don't mean to cause offence to anyone specifically, it just seems to have cropped up a few times the past few days and it's ridiculous and stupid.

.
It's just a gaming phrase, from COD and other online games.

This is another non-existent steelbook thread, we do not need these tbh.

I think to him its University education . I'd love to own the comic con sucker punch artwork because it looks cool but as you say, collectors usually seek to buy the original release, not the re-release, but it can potentially have an effect on resale values of previous releases.

Iron Man FS was hitting $1k, but even now it wouldn't even get £375 if a recenty Play.com release is to be blamed and Scunny even got one for about £100 in mint condition to complete his whole list of versions.

I'm not bothered with value like some may be. I like to know that i have something worth X now it's unavailable but i first and foremost want to buy something i like the look of. I prefer the Play.com Iron Man artwork because it has no blue banner, which i don't like on steelbooks for instance. Value is a bit of a moot point at present.

If Play.com release a comic con artwork steelbook for Sucker Punch, i'll buy it, but i don't think rushing out to buy 100s to potentially sell at the original release price of $900+ or something is gonna do you any favours, so i agree with JW in that regards. Just buy 1 to keep and 1 to trade/sell imo.

why would play release a 'comic con exclusive' steelbook which was only made for the comic con it was sold at

it was the point that they made that steelbook EXCLUSIVE to that event with EXCLUSIVE artwork also

That is not a guarantee that it won't be released.
I am sure Play.com is doing a lot of research before releasing a new steelbook. That's why they releases Iron Man and Terminator (both Play.com Exclusives).

I mean, a lot of steelbooks are classified as ''... exclusive'' or ''limited edition'', but the same steelbooks are released in different countries by different retailers.

I opened this thread because I am planning to buy one for my OWN COLLECTION. It is a really expensive steelbook, so I'd like to know what you think about this. I don't want to spend hundreds of € just to find out Play.com will release a steelbook with the same artwork.

I will only buy this steelbook because of the artwork. I don't care about the movie itself tbh. Call me stupid .

I'd rather have a Play.com exclusive that has the "Babydoll crouched with sword in hand" artwork that I once saw. I believe that it was originally a German release? THAT one is a beautiful case. I find the Comic-Con and other steelbook designs dreadful compared to that one.

The only issue i have with repeating the white artwork as cool as it is, was that it's been done in 2 markets already. Comic con artwork hasn't been done in more than 1 but heck, i'd even be open to something completely new and amazing

Mods - if there's a similar thread (I couldn't see one) then please lock/destroy this one.

Lets get the ball rolling then!

I'd like to see Memento get a UK Steelbook with no blue banner.

I wouldn't want it to have "From the Director of The Dark Knight & Inception".

I personally don't like the Canandian release artwork, it's simplistic yes, but it's bland.
