Saw this on AICN - actually looks fun. I like that it's a bit dark.

Looks like it has sleeper hit potential.
Seems like the story was infused with elements of Unbreakable and Akira, maybe I am Number 4, and given a docudrama feel.
Interesting in concept, let's see how well they execute it.

I agree, looks like it could be very effective, although I'm unsure how well incorporated the found footage aspect would go. If I got superpowers, I know I wouldn't film everything I do. However, I think I'll be sure to be checking it out, bad or not, it's definitely worth a look

This movie is just a rip of X-Men I guess hollwood is really is out of original ideas. Now they take other movies and use the same plot line and put it in a different setting. just like the Justin timberlake movie that is a rip of logans run

That looks awesome! I love found footage films. i.e. Blair Witch, Troll Hunter, Paranormal Activity, even Cloverfield

From the trailer -
[Show spoiler]looks like they found a meteor - got superpowers, and one of them gets a little power hungry?

I know the basics about X-Men - but I didn't think that was the same premise.

Maybe I'm wrong?

Anyway - yeah, not sure about the found footage aspect, but it looks like fun.

No, it's not the same at all. You're right.

This actually looks interesting. I'll keep an eye on it.

Just watched the HD trailer. It looks really good. I'll definitely be checking it out. And if the $15,000,000 dollar budget that Wikipedia is reporting is true, those are some impressively rendered and executed effects shots for such a small budget.

So every film from now on that will have people with super powers will be a rip-off of X-men?

The trailer looks amazing. Can't wait.

15 mill is a lot for a found footage film

No, pretty sure Cloverfield is still the most expensive with around $25M. And I'm looking forward to this. Between this and TDKR, 2012 will be a good year for the superhero genre.

I don't see how this is a rip off of X-Men, btw. If anything.... a stretch.... Green Lantern.

15 Mill is still a lot, definitely enough to make it the second highest budget found footage film, unless that Project X is huge. You're also forgetting another pretty big superhero film

come on, as much as you have to be a preacher, The Avengers is still going to be one of the biggest deals next year, whether you think it looks bland or not.

Looks good, like a more serious version of MISFITS.

The Avengers has directing, writing, and acting down. Those three have me going to see it but the cinematography and the visual continuity which looks wonky to me just doesn't get me jazzed for the thing like it's supposed to. I think it's gotten more of a free pass from people who've also whined about spy photos from TDKR and TASM and it annoys me when I call out the Avengers on a legitimate qualm, I’m labeled a hater. Not saying you’ve personally done it but others have.

I’m going to see it but I think it’ll be an afterthought in most main stream viewers minds once Spider-Man and Batman hit the screens later on.
