Default Favorite Box Sets

What are some of your favorite box sets? The perfect box for me is lots of content with nice packaging and none or minimal swag.

Some favorites are:

HP Hogwarts Collection
Rome Complete Series
Star Wars Complete Saga
Indiana Jones Complete Adventures Limited Edition Gift Set UK
Schindler's List 20th Anniversary Definitive Collector's Edition UK

Worst one in my collection is the Spartacus Complete Series. Loved the show, but the box set packaging is just terrible.

A lot of HBO TV sets, three film sets that come to mind, Lethal Weapon, Alien & the great (UK) Arrow Vincent Price box (complete with book).

Perhaps it's because I'm currently going through the set, but I really think that the The Essential Jacques Demy set it wonderful.

I'm really partial to the BSG Definitive Collection. I really dig the fact that they included WS and OAR versions in the set.

Normally, I prefer box sets over individual copies of a series because to my eyes, it looks a lot better than just a bunch of random movies out on the shelf.

DVD:

Ultraman - Series 1 Volume 1 & Volume 2
artwork, episode guide, 2 postcards and dvd extras

Gatchaman - Series - 9 box sets
additional artwork and extras not available on the blu-ray

Superheroes - The Epic History
2 dvd set - Superheroes: A Never Ending Battle and Pioneers of Television: Superheroes
--- Book - Superheroes Collector`s Edition: Six Immortal Heroes
---A Four-Color Life
---Superheroes: Golden Age of Comics Collector Cards

Blade Runner: (briefcase edition)
cool design
different cuts
extras
replica spinner
film strip
art folio

Flash Gordon: Collectible Video-Book -
a little taller than what I normally like but it has the 3 movies together
book with artwork from the original comics - with a little history of Flash creator

BLU-RAY:

Drunken Master/Snake in the Eagle`s Shadow -
artwork/design
pamphlet and booklet with lots of pictures from the movies
2 mini posters
postcards
bonus disc
each film features a lot of extras
each blu-ray disc features 2 versions of the movie - (HK cut and Japanese theatrical print)

Star Wars: Clone Wars -
booklet, artwork, extras on the discs, etc...

Star Wars: The Complete Saga -
mostly the extras, do have some issues with added material not there originally

Alien: Anthology -
design
I have all the Alien movies under one roof and the boxset looks really nice

Blade Runner:
(does this count?)
all the edits of the film under one roof
miniature car
book

Bruce Lee: The Legacy Collection -
(the issues with this set have a thread of their own. so, no need to repeat what I don't like about it, but it is not a perfect release)
but, lots of extras on the discs themselves
nice pictures in the book with a little history info

Batman: The Complete Classic Batman Collection -
this is the green colored collection with the note from Adam West and screenplay
also features the Batman 66 movie dvd - (which I replaced with my blu-ray copy)
Extras and design
Episode guide

Planet of the Apes: 40-Year Evolution -
oversized book, but very nice
(the only negative thing was the way the discs were packaged.)

I have other box sets too that have worthy mention:

Bruce Lee: The Ultimate Collection - dvd
Gatchaman- blu-ray box set complete
Star Trek: TOS - blu-ray box set all 3 seasons
The Avengers: The Complete Emma Peel Megabit - dvd box set
Battlestar Galactica: The Definitive Collection blu-ray box set
Buck Rogers In the 25th Century - dvd season one and two
Watchman: Ultimate Cut box set dvd
Citizen Kane blu-ray box set
Sin City: Recut-Extended-Unrated dvd
The Beatles: Anthology dvd
The Beatles: Plus 1 blu-ray
King Kong - steelbook

and, there may be a few more that I am forgetting

I just grabbed the Justified complete series, I love it. Although the possibility for scratched discs is high, the book packaging is great.

Which is why I also love:

Band of brothers/pacific
Star Wars complete saga
Indiana jones complete set

Oh yeah those are DVD but are my favorites.

Blu would be LOTR extended, Alien, Shrek, Godfather, Bourne, Toy Story 3D, Indiana Jones and Austin Powers (slim pack)

By far my favorite and one of the finest box sets ever released, the UNIVERSAL MONSTERS box from the UK. Compact, accessible, great original and stunning poster art on post cards and arguably the greatest catalog title transfers done to date. It has always been and will no doubt continue to be the Rolls Royce of my collection.

This is tough...

TV
Band of Brothers
Deadwood
Twin Peaks (I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed some of the supplements)

Films
Universal Classic Monsters (UK)
Alfred Hitchcock: The Masterpiece Collection
David Lean Directs Noel Coward

(for all the grief Universal still gets, those are two really great sets)
