I watch mine in near complete darkness. My room has no windows and I sometimes get light from the first floor since our stairs are open. Check out my gallery to see what I mean.

Thanks! The TV in my gallery is the Panasonic TH-50PZ850u. I just replaced it today with the Panasonic TC-P65VT30.

I dont use any lights , but when I do, I use the ikea LED's. They make for a nice relaxing AL so you can still see and get around in the HT room. Since I can control the light, no windows or anything to mess with. My wife likes the LED light cause she can still move about comfortably & the picture from the Kuro is still eye candy.

that LED light sounds like a really good idea. i have 300 watts bulbs in the living room... so either i watch it in complete darkness or turn on these really powerful 3 bulbs and ruin my gt30's picture quality...

Once I get off my lazy butt, I'll take some pictures with my DSLR which will be heads and shoulders better than the iPhone photos I have already posted.

I watch my Panasonic plasma in my home theater room.I never use the windows so they have been covered. With the doors shut and the tv off you can't see your hand in front of your face even in day light.I also use THX mode and am very pleased with my pic.

As black as possible for me too. My room isn't black in daylight, but I do have two sets of black curtains on each window so it is definitely enjoyable to watch TV at any time of day.

As my room is quite "busy" with various collectables / distractions, I always watch movies / television in complete darkness. I invested in full length backed curtains so they eliminate any light through the window / blinds.

I think a dark room creates more of a cinematic experience and immediately adds atmosphere.

Darkness for me. I tried the LED lights behind the set, but quickly returned them as I hated it. Sometimes I'll flip a small (5W) light on that I have on the floor behind my sectional. I gives just enough "mood" lighting.
