Do retailers get a list of discontinued titles and remove them from their database?. For example, the Batman: The Complete Television Series (Limited Edition) doesn't seem to be available anymore from most major online retailers. It's still available to order from Amazon, but Walmart lists it as "This Item is no longer available."

I don't know but the other possibility is not ordering anymore of titles that are not selling well, or they are downsizing their department.
Stores have finite amount of spaces and if a title isn't moving as much as they want, I can see them not ordering more and just delisting the title even though it is still in print. I am in Canada and my local WM and BB have been downsizing like no tomorrow and there are a lot of titles now missing from shelves that are no way out of print. To your point though, the only people who would have access to that information would be the people doing the orders. They would have access to distributor sites and can see what is no longer being produced. |

This site keeps a database, but I don't know how accurate they are as far as what's OOP or not

If you mean this version: https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Batma...lu-ray/103989/
Then there's a site called Michael's Movie Mayhem that tracks (almost) all titles, including whether they've been discontinued: http://dvdlist.kazart.com/queryDVDList.php3?id=268304 For updates he posts every 1-4 weeks all the new discontinued titles he's discovered on a thread at DVD Talk, and in this case first reported that this edition was oop on 11/15/15: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/12645417-post1226.html So yeah, if you want this then I'd buy it asap. http://dvdlist.kazart.com/queryDVDList2.php3?id=251579 I'm sure a lot of it is accurate, but certainly not all. |

In any event, anecdotally I've seen it be correct dozens of times, and I've really appreciated the heads-up versus repeatedly checking my wish list, price tracker, etc. The info certainly would have allowed for over 2 months of advance notice and planning in this case. |
