My THP50G10A died today and it's flashing seven red lights. I bought it August 7 2009 so around 3 years ago. Is it worth getting this fixed or buying myself a completely new TV?
Not sure how much a fix will cost, but I've heard somewhere between 200-500. |

Three years isn't old for a TV. I'm surprised it died in such a short time. How much did you initially pay for it? More than $2000? If so, $200 to repair sounds like a better bargain than buying another expensive TV.

The decision is up to you, ultimately, however (and this depends on how much you bought the tv for) I think $200-$500 is a small price to pay to repair a tv that you only had for 3 years, imo. I'm assuming you spent at least a $1000 for it and it sounds like that the tv had a defect to begin with and that it dying on you in 3 years in not the typical norm.
Personally, I would get it fixed (if you liked the tv and you were happy with it before it died on you) and if it breaks on you again...THEN I would get a new one. Just me but...it sounds like a waste of $$ to buy a new one after only 3 years use on your current one....even with it breaking on you. Again, 3 years is not a long time. Listen to what the repair guy says and get his opinion as well. This is just me..... |
