Actors/Actresses you like but have starred in terrible films - Blu-ray Forum

Which actors and actresses do you like that star in good films but on occasion have been in terrible ones. Have you ever felt annoyed or even ashamed that they were in it!? Was their performance as good as ever or did it suck as bad as the movie?
I'm making this thread as i just "watched" Ultraviolet which, as i expected, was pretty bad. I feel kinda bad for Milla Jovovich though as I really like her, especially in the Resident Evil films, which i love.

The entire cast of Police Academy in Police Academy 7

(but seriously)

And probably others I can't think of right now.

I didn't like Tinker Tailor Solider Spy but love most of the cast. I thought they all gave solid performances. eg. Gary Oldman, John Hurt, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong

I agree about Milla Jovovich in Ultraviolet. HORRIBLE movie, but I love the Resident Evil series.

I also really like Karl Urban, and he does well in supporting/secondary roles, but I can't think of any movie that's done particularly well that he's been the star of.

to be honest he hasn't really done any leading roles, until this years Dredd. It looks awesome so let's hope it does well for his reputations sake! Like you say, all his supporting roles have been great eg.Lord of the Rings & Star Trek.

Sarah Michelle Gellar. Buffy is my all time favorite show but her movies have been mostly terrible.

Natalie Portman - After Blackswan I figure she would finally up her game but no, she went right back to crappy Rom coms and stuff.

Ann Hathaway - I like here and think she is a solid actress but she doesn't do much I like.

They are kind of different to the requirements in the OP though.

Nicolas Cage (is it even a surprise at this point he's the first I bring up) - I've seen all his movies, and here are the four that I would rate less than 5/10 : Gone in 60 Seconds, Bangkok Dangerous, The Ant Bully, Wild Birds

Jason Statham - Chaos, Revolver

Tom Cruise - Losin' It

De Niro, Pacino - I think these go without saying

Proves she is capable of good acting in stuff like Leon: The Professional, V for Vendetta.........then she does other movies like Star Wars Episode 1-3, Your Highness
