Gheez I hope so. It would stink if they handed it off to Netflix where Blu-ray goes to die.

Huh? By digital, they mean Vudu, iTunes, FandangoNow, Google Play, and Amazon.

What? It already got a theatrical release in December 2018 from Orion/MGM (an unfair limited release, but a release nonetheless). It isn't being dumped to Netflix, it's just going to digital retailers first and then coming to disc (like usual). It's just the fact that we'll probably have to wait until March or April for it to come (especially since the commentary hasn't even been recorded).

Apparently the UK version of the movie is longer than the USA version. Even though the director said that nothing too big was cut out of the movie, I'm still kind of sad that we didn't get the full movie. I knew that it was re-edited and re-rated not too long before release, but I thought that applied to all versions. This is not the case, I honestly hope that the longer version comes here, if not, I may have to pray that the UK Blu-ray is region free.

I decided to research and I found that the USA version is 92 minutes while the UK is 98 minutes, not a huge difference, but still somewhat concerning. I mean, I noticed that the songs Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now and Give Them a Show are different in the movie compared to the soundtrack. Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now is full on edited differently in the movie AND some verses are missing in comparison to the soundtrack (and some dialogue is gone). Meanwhile Give Them a Show does have some verses missing. Without seeing the UK cut, it's hard to know if this is part of what's cut from USA or not.

John McPhail confirmed the US version had a strict running time requirement but no scenes or songs were cut. Instead they cut lines to trim it:

It is, we had to come in as close to 90 minutes as possible for our US theatrical, there isn't any songs cut or scenes, it's mostly a line here and there.

And no songs were cut, but verses could've very likely been cut for run time.

I didn't see this in the theater, but I remember the trailer made it look really fun. I'll most definitely blind buy this whenever it comes out.

I mean, come on: How can someone not love a X-Mas Zombie Musical?

I saw this in the theater and it was a lot of fun. Will definitely pick this up and in all honesty it didn't need to be any longer...

Oh don't get me wrong, the shorter cut is great, even trimmed the movie is on my top 12 of 2018, I just love it enough to want more of it no matter how small. But it is ridiculous that the USA distributors thought that 98 minutes was too long.

Update, apparently there are three versions of the movie. Including one with a song that's on the vinyl soundtrack and cut from both the UK and US versions, it was played for its festival run. The company releasing the German Blu-ray did ask for all 3 versions but right now it's unknown if they're included. I hope that all 3 versions are included on the USA disc but I wouldn't hold my breath. Oh and both the UK and festival cuts had Anna's dad singing ' I Will Believe' with Anna like how it is in the soundtrack.

Fingers crossed we get a US blu. There's a German blu coming out soon (saw it listed on Diabolikdvd).

I hope so, and I hope it contains all 3 cuts of the movie. By the way, I have found and seen all 3 versions. The 107 minutes long Festival Cut is my preferred version of the movie. For comparison, USA is 92 minutes long, UK is 97 minutes long. The biggest bonus about the 107 min version is that ALL songs are in their complete versions (the other 2 versions trim some of the songs to save time).

Well, if the USA doesn't get a Blu-ray, Japan will be getting one on October 23rd.

I would import a Blu of this as opposed to being stuck with a DVD in 2019.
