"Sony began touting online to expect great things from this title in video awhile ago. It certainly lives up. Shot in HD, detail is absolutely exquisite – finely resolved in both darkness and light. The tiniest of details are plainly visible, like goose bumps on a woman’s skin or tiny gravel in a street. And, I’m not just referring to close-ups. Though, makeup effects from blood to wrinkles were meticulously applied for the HD cameras too."

"Instead of grain, an older, more dated feel is achieved through the films use of color. Many sequences, particularly at night and of the dismal European climate are viewed through tainted glasses or a manipulated spectrum that often leaned toward the monochromatic. Sepia tones occasionally set the mood. But when the weather clears and sun comes out, an image appeared with more brilliance and luster. It was convincingly like looking thru a window"

"I wasn’t too surprised that the video looked so stunning. But, for a TV premiere, the audio really set me back. The sound design is not neglected in any part of this 6 hour mini. In 16 bit PCM, I felt as if I were listening to a feature film production. It’s not just the quality of the sound that amazed me, which tonal fidelity is impeccable, showing none of the less desirable shortcomings of a regular series on a tight schedule. But, there’s an amazing amount of ambient detail in the sound design. It’s not all just dialogue and music. A door closing to the left, sounded as if there really was a door there in my room. Several times knocking or other noises outside the space of a scene (the room or building the actors are in etc, are heard with such convincing realism, I almost wanted to go out in the hall to see what was going on. "
