Default Top 3 FAVORITE Films of Each Decade: 40-present

So, I'm interested to see what people's top 3 films are of each decade, starting with the 1940s and going to the 2000s. There are a few rules:

1) DO NOT criticize other people's selections

2) Participation is LIMITED to those who pick three films from EACH of the decades. If you haven't seen films from the 40s or another decade, please don't participate. Also please don't participate if you can't pick three.

3) Trilogies or series do NOT count as a single film. So, there is NO listing of the LOTR trilogy as a single film because it's not, it's three films.

4) This is FAVORITE and not Best.

My interest here is to see how people's tastes change with the decade, and also to see how film has changed as well. Can't wait to see some lists and please adhere to the rules!
