If the data on a Blu-ray disc is less than the data on the DVD-/+R that you plan to burn to then you can very easily copy that data from the Blu-ray Disc to your DVD using the newest version of Nero that you should be able to get with any Blu-ray drive.
If the data on the disc is encrypted, as with most (all?) commercial movies, than breaking the encryption to make a copy of the movie is illegal, just as it is with DVD videos. Websites that discuss and tell you how to make such copies can also be held in violation of the law for providing information on the illegal decryption. So, I will assume that you are NOT trying to illegally copy videos to DVD, but are just asking about data copying or copying of non-encrypted videos. |

Maybe he wants to get a very clean and high quality DVD video out of it. For example, I run an s-video cable out from my hi-def box into my DVD recorder with hard disk.
Is the signal hi-def? No, s-video only outputs it at 480i. Neither can I record in hi-def. However, it does preserve the 16x9 aspect ratio and makes for the cleanest recordings you ever saw. So much so, I do see a difference between XP and SP mode. So, were it not for the copy protection of blu-ray, you technically COULD downgrade the image to fit on DVD. |

Not to mention, I am curious to see the difference in quality when I copy to VHS. But the source is normally so clean and clear that the VHS version still looks great. There is a BIG difference recording from digital TV opposed to the glitches of the analog signal. Anyone else remember when the best VHS movies were made from a Laser Disc master?
