Default Japan is making an "Ace Attorney" movie. Takashi Miike is directing.

Japan is making an Ace Attorney movie. Takashi Miike is directing, and actor Hiroki Narimiya is starring as Phoenix Wright. This is what he looks like as Phoenix Wright.

The movie was filmed near Kyoto and is slated for an early 2012 release in Japan. This isn't the first adaptation of Phoenix Wright. The all-female Takarazuka Revue did musical versions of the popular lawyer games.
Takashi Miike? Seriously?!

Gotta love Miike. He's all over the place. I like that he doesn't stick to just one genre of film. I thought The Great Yokai War was an entertaining kids movie; Ichi the Killer was an awesome violent flick. The man is awesome.

The only Miike film I've seen is 13 Assassins It was AWESOME but I've never checked out any of his other stuff... I fail...

I've seen a trailer, it looks about a silly as an Ace Attorney movie would look

I've seen the trailer as well. I was just wondering if the actual feature managed to keep the momentum going.

A movie like this could be silly tongue-in-cheek fun or an outright mess. I'm hoping it's the former.

Seems that this was released on Feb 11 in Japan. Which leads me to the question: Has a blu-ray been released of this in Japan yet (or anywhere in the world)? I would love to see this as I am a huge fan of the games.

Yeah, was waiting for all the Audition-zombies to chime in saying "Cool, it'll be really violent, etc! ", despite the fact that Miike hasn't really done the films his fanboys still think he does in.....how many years has it been now, I've lost track?

He's now going for big over-the-top big-budget J-pop culture like the Zebraman movies, Great Yokai and the Yattaman movie, which prompted one critic to compare him to "the Japanese Peter Jackson: He may have started out on weird culty fringe material, but give him a real studio budget and watch him grow up."

Unless Ace blind-dates a girl that tries to saw his leg off or if a character has a vaginal blow-gun, I'm out.
