Quote:
Following a motley crew on a bumpy ride from Seoul to Busan to escape a zombie outbreak, writer-director Yeon Sang-ho’s action-horror railroad movie “Train to Busan” pulses with relentless locomotive momentum. As an allegory of class rebellion and moral polarization, it proves just as biting as Bong Joon-ho’s sci-fi dystopia “Snowpiercer,” while delivering even more unpretentious fun. Yeon has displayed recognizably cinematic sensibilities in his last three indie anime features — “King of Pigs,” “Fake” and “Seoul Station” — so it’s not surprising that he transitions easily into live-action, though his scathing, nihilistic vision of humanity is watered down for wider mainstream appeal. Buyers for Asian-friendly genre products should clamber to board “Train.”

Looks fun, but seeing zombies in anything now just gets a bit of a sigh from me.

Normally, I would agree. But, this being a film from South Korean director Yeon Sang-ho intrigues me.

So I'm guessing this didn't come out in July in the US?

Incredible movie. Easily in my top 5 best Zombie (or infected) film ever made. If you have this in your city, go see it. Hollywood will for sure be doing a remake of this.

Though I would agree Zombie fatigue has definitely set in, one can never underestimate what a talented director might bring to the genre.

Just when I'd had it with vampires, Only Lovers Left Alive came out and I loved it.I was less enthused with A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night and Byzantium, but both had their strengths and individual vision.

Will certainly give this a try.

I don't think any director can overcome my disinterest in anything zombie related at this point.

This was easily the best zombie movie/show I've seen in at least 10 years if not longer, and yes that includes 28 weeks later in there (where I only loved the opening, which I would rate as good or better than Train to Busan)

I had my doubts that South Korea of all places (never seen a Zombie movie out of there) would be able to come out with a zombie movie that can teach the rest of the world a thing or two

Easily 4.5/5

Huh? Are you sure you're not getting North and South mixed up there.

I think it's less the fact it's good and the bit about teaching the world a thing or two. I think it's more a comment on country than the quality. It was just a bit of a strange phrase is all.

Korean horror is 'so-so'? You gotta watch "I Saw The Devil."

Can't wait to own 'Train to Busan' on blu-ray.
