Question X-Men question...

so, sorry if this has been posted before, but i'm new here so go easy on me :P

i was just wondering if anyone knew if they were planning on coming out with a set of all three on blu-ray. i was just going to buy the ones that are already out, but i'd rather buy a set. plus i've never seen 2 and 3, so idk if they're even any good. haha

any help would be greatly appreciated

For what it's worth:

X2 is wonderful, easily the best of the series.

X3, IMO, is terrible. Not only the worst of the series, but among the worst Marvel movies made yet, if not THE worst.

Hardly. While the movie isn't perfect, it is pretty good. There's definatly worse Marvel films.

The Theatrical Daredevil, Elektra, The Hulk especially.

for having the whole director thing going on i thought X3 rocked but fully agree X2 was the highlight of the series so far, but as far as bad super hero movies go *cough* spiderman 1 and 3......the hulk.......daredevil......elektra...... ghost rider.......(place endless list here)

im holding out on buying x3 till a set releases and i can save myself some bread, plenty of other movies out there i can buy for now till they get off there butts and give me some xmen trilogy.

Great minds think alike. Besides, X3 finally delivered Beast. So that makes the film perfect.

As critical as I was of Kelsey Grammer's casting, he did a damn fine job.

I'll give you that. I liked Beast.

Regardless, I rank X3 right alongside Hulk and Daredevil. I haven't seen Elektra (because I was so disappointed with Daredevil). All terrible.

What's unique about my experience with X3 is when I saw it in the theater, I liked it very much. However, I haven't been able to make it through a single viewing since owning the DVD. I turn it off or walk away every time. Cringing.

X-3 was an abomination, worse than Daredevil and Elektra especially because 1 and 2 had already shown that it could be done well and Ratner shafted fans.
I am among those hoping for 1 and 2 very soon.

No, Bryan Singer shafted fans. And ran off to do that terrible rehashed Superman movie.

And there's no way that X3 is worse than Daredevil and Elektra.

I agree about Singer.
As far as DD and E, as I said X1 showed that a good Xmen movie was possible and it laid the groundwork, X2 showed that it could be picked up and run with and be even better.
That is why X3 was a worse abomination, all they had to so was connect the dots and color in the lines but no they could not handle that.
(It also doesn't help that I have been a huge X-Men fan since issue 42 of the original series and especially after Giant Sized #1)
With DD and E, they were kind of going from scratch so they get a little forgiveness.

X3 did try to connect the dots. Unfortunatly they tried to pack in too much story.

It's certainly a film that could benefit from an extended cut with more character moments.

And agreed, big fan of the X-Men here. All the way back to Claremont's historic run.

Though I love the Original 5 years and characters, All-New All-Different was where I came in.

I thought X3 was the weakest of the trilogy. It felt very disconnected, and the liberties they took with Juggernaut, Multiple Man and Omega Red are unforgivable. Nevermind all the lousy acting/directing that seemed to infect everyone except for Sir Ian, Hugh Jackman, Ellen Page and Kelsey. Everyone else, including Patrick Stewart, was a disappointment for me.

As for the WORST Marvel movie ever made (aside from the original Fantastic Four film), my vote goes to Spider-Man 3. Completely ridiculous piece of crap garbage. I'd rather watch The Star Wars Holiday Special while strapped into one of Jigsaw's torture rigs, all the while being gummed by Bea Arthur, than watch that PoS again.

Someone needs to stop Avi Arad before he destroys the entire Marvel universe with subpar films.

That said, I really want X-Men 1.5 and X2 on Blu-ray. Soon. Especially X2... best of the bunch, IMHO.

This is the Movieverse. There have been liberties since the first film.

Explaining Juggernaut's origins in the movies have no place. Not to mention Juggy and Multiple Man's roles are consistant with the Ultimate Universe versions of the characters. Since Ultimate Madrox is in the Brotherhood.

Agreed, well said. Cramming Venom into the movie instead of doing what Sam Raimi wanted to do really hurt the film. You could almost tell that Raimi didn't really care about Venom, given how little the character mattered to the film. The idea of Vulture and Sandman would have been a lot better than that 90's reject character Venom.

But Omega Red wasn't in X3??? But in all fairness I think the X-Men films were always doomed to be good or great at best...they were never going be amazing in terms of an actual film. There is just too many damn characters, storylines, subplots, references to be packed into a 2 hour time frame and Fox is notorious for trying to keep movies under the 2 hour mark. The X-Men's movie potential was always held back from the day Fox planned to go ahead with the first movie. Now I am not saying the movies sucked but there is a definite well of potential that it failed to deliver on.

Now in the matter of the other X-Men movies making it onto Blu-ray. From what I hear Fox wants to take advantage of the whole profile 2.0 aspect on Blu-ray so that could be a reason why they haven't been releases yet. Also with Wolverine coming out in 2009 they might want to do some kind of cross marketing promotion with that. So worse case scenario we are waiting until the marketing of the Wolverine movie till we see X1 and X2.
