Default alliance titles= region what?

i know two titles are region locked:Nightmare on Elm Street and Righteous Kill
but will all future releases from them will as well be locked?(in amazon.ca next to alliance is written : " (universal)" so since universals titles are region free i would have thought theirs would be too..
thx

If previous titles were region locked, there's a good chance their other releases are too. Perhaps someone here who owns some Alliance BDs can chime in...

I put my BD drive in region B mode and they wouldnt load so I believe they are locked. I ordered Spiel mit der angst(butterfly on the wheel) from Germany an it wont play on my bdp-s350 so I didnt wanna feel i wasted my money so I watched it there by changing the region code. At the same time I tested 2 of the titles and they said incompatible

I think all Alliance titles (at least for now.. until they get lazy) will be region A locked.

The DVD distributor name is also known as 'Alliance Universal' here in Canada, since they are responsible for all Universal DVDs & Blus on top of the Alliance titles. They handle: Universal/Focus/Rogue, New Line(this may change now that Warner is in charge of their titles in the US, but no change yet), Dimension, Miramax, Weinstein and misc titles/companies that slip through(odd example being Bowling for Columbine, which is MGM in US; or Chasing Amy & Traffic Criterion DVDs).

I guess Alliance fits them well then, They have an Alliance with several major studios and are releasing at a faster rate than the studios

I suspect they are titles that were originally planned to be released on the same dates in the US as in Canada but in the US they decided to delay them but not here.

Never thought of that, but yes lol. I used to get pretty pissed with Alliance since some releases would come out a week late just so that they could have time to add french to packaging (titles I remember are 2-disc editions of Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and Memento[which is another odd release of theirs-Sony in US]). Now they do a pretty damned fine job of taking care of a ton of releases for us Canadians.

This is a possibility. However, what they normally do is gather all info (film transfer, special features, cover art etc) from the US source, then brand it with their logos & intros. So if say Good Will Hunting on blu in the US will have extras, and ours will not, I wonder if maybe they're just releasing them at their own will just to make a few bucks. I'm certain the transfers are identical, but gotta wonder where they originate.

Nice! the studio is Alliance, so most chances it will be region free. I just hope it will be accompanied by an HD audio track.

Unlike WB, Alliance always includes HD audio on their releases.

So many scenes were shot in the dim light, blu-ray could be a real pick me up for this movie. I hope they did it right.

Apparently Alliance also began porting the features over on The Constant Gardener Blu-ray. I heard AA released the Se7en 2-diisc DVD is Canada, so maybe they will bring those over for the Blu-ray. Fingers crossed. Could be my first Canadian import (other than the TDK Steelbook, which I won't be opening).

It's one of my all time too! I LOVE this movie! I sadly only had the single disk release, and since WB will releasing it here I was just gonna go buy the two disk release DVD. But I will import this for sure!
