Fantastic to see Fox releasing these older titles. Love Unfaithful. The majors seem to have forgotton about the UK market recently - thing is i've imported them all already - in this case from Spain.

Somehow, I can't see Disney allowing a film like this to get a 4K release.

Disney aren't really interested in Fox titles, but if they were, it would only be the big moneymakers and family titles. An erotic infidelity drama with Diane Lane nude and masturbating doesn't really fit their brand.

Don't get me wrong, though, I'd probably buy two copies if it came out on 4K UHD.

Never saw this one. What's the consensus on it? I just remember it not getting much positivity in the news. I was like 15 or 16 when this came out.

I think it's great. Superb direction. Superb performances.
It's not predictable either... and doesn't necessarily tie everything up for you.
Diane Lane is magnetic - and did (at the time) get better reviews for her Oscar nominated performance than the actual film got.
Deffo worth a watch.

I'll be the downer, but the plot is deeply flawed to me. But it has Diane Lane in some nice scenes...

It's definitely a 'downbeat' film (especially watched with the other half

), and it is also a 'slow burn'... but I find it very engrossing.
Adrian Lyne... the director... really goes for realism... i.e. there is no real reason for the affair (as in real life a lot of the time), Gere is a great (if boring) husband... he is not abusive or any of that stuff. Also... there are no winners. In this kind of scenario... everyone becomes a victim. I love it.

Yeah. Some really sexy scenes... make no doubt about it.
Lane is exceptional and is sexy without trying.
The director shoots a lot of the movie in a 'smoked filled room' diffused kind of way. It makes it all very stylish and 'haunting'.
He used a similar technique with 'Fatal Attraction' and 'Jacob's Ladder'.

What McCrutchy said above is one of the many reasons I hate Disney owning almost every thing entertainment should not be targeted to teens and kids alone. I love Unfaithful.

They don't own "almost everything" and Lane was rarely even nude in the film (and you barely even see nudity).

And unfortunately, Hollywood is a business, and teens and kids is where the money is at now. Not hard to understand, whether you like it or not. Unfaithful is one good performance in a not very good remake of a much better film.

There's more 'nudity' (or implied nudity) than most mainstream thrillers. And personally I much prefer 'Unfaithful' over the original French 'La Femme Infidel'
