I just did a backflip when I read this news.

Just saw the anaglyph version last weekend. It has so much ghosting and the cardboard "glasses" are uncomfortable, not to mention the freaky and dark color shift.

Since I personally like Journey To Te Center Of The Earth so much (fun! fun! fun!) this new 3D version has the potential to be visually spectacular and loaded with "pop-outs." I am hoping for a really good 3D master.

Can't wait to see it!

This movie had the fortune of coming out in 2008 when 3D movies were a rare thing. If it came out this year it would not have the same impact since its not a good movie however it made use of its native 3D aspect pretty well and for those who like pop outs this should be good demo material

I liked this movie. I thought the new 3D version wasn't going to come out until the sequel. Is a sequel really being made?

Very excited that this is coming finally. I've had the sealed anaglyph version that I got through dvd2blu for sale on amazon but no one's been biting.

This leaves Beowulf and Spy Kids 3 at the top of my wishlist.

Ed: Finally sold my anaglyph version! It's been on amz for around 4 months. My shelf space is all cleared for this now!

Yyyyyyep. 2/10/12, Movie cash included.

Only now, it's simply called "Journey 2: the Mysterious Island" (guess which Verne novel gets reffed)--
"Hip" abbreviated title, or a change of ownership, given the legal troubles at the time?

Is this a conversion, or was it filmed in 3D?

Shot with the same native fusion cameras that shot Avatar. It was the first movie released to be shot this way.

correction SCAR 3D was the first released that was shot that way several months before Journey, it might have been a very limited release but it was still first.

Thanks for the link! Although I stray away from anything The Rock is in.....this looks really good. (Adventure 3D movie-wise )
