Default Shoot out epson 3010 vs optoma hd33

I have posted this thread because i would like to know from everyday users what they think of these 2 projectors???

Are the black levels significantly better than the other. Is the 3d better in one over the other, any significant differences??

I have read the reviews at projector central and projectorreviews.com

They kind of pit one against the other. From the projector central review they favor the hd33. The other the Epson. WHAT DO THE REAL WORLD USERS SAY??

Im interested as well.

The 3010's better brightness appears better suited to my theoretical 170" screen, but I keep hearing the HD33 has better 3D. I hear the 3010 suffers from ghosting and flickering in 3D mode

Just how bad is the ghosting and flickering?

I also hear the HD33 has a rainbow effect?

I'll let you know my first-hand experience of the differences between DLP and LCD projectors, such as the ones you are wanting to compare. After going through so many HDTV's and projectors, I think I have a pretty good idea of how they each compare. I've spent the last year and a half using two different Plasma displays and I have grown to love the smooth motion of a Plasma display. The Epson 8350 I tried for a few days gave me motion sickness when I tried to play Uncharted 2 on it. I had to return the Epson projector. No LCD projectors for me from now on.

I was kind of shocked by the Epson 8350 because I had an Optoma HD20 for a year before I went to Plasma, and I never felt sick while playing games on that. I think DLP projectors offer a much smoother experience. I have heard and believe that a DLP will help greatly when viewing 3D content, so if 3D is on your radar, I'd shoot for the HD33. Even if it isn't, DLP's seem to have more pop in the color saturation. I was not at all impressed with the color of the Epson compared to the Optoma HD20, and the HD33 is only an improvement.

I haven't had a chance to try 3D on the Optoma HD33, but I did get to play an hour of Max Payne 3 on it, and it was nice and smooth with a beautiful picture to it. We played in a room with a fair amount of light and it was still acceptable. In the dark I'm sure it looks fantastic.

I have the HD33. It has a great picture of course the blacks could always be better but they are hardly a deal breaker. As for 3D it's completely immersive and with the darkened glasses help greatly with the black lvls.
