Germany Uncut Austrian versions???

How does one first tell a German release from and an Austrian one, and how come they are seemingly not purchasable from Amazon Austria?

Amazon.at just seem to be a link to Amazon.de with another logo.
According to their help site Amazon.at is just an nationalised subversion of amazon.de with same product catalogue as amazon.de. It is not an individual amazon site. So the base of amazon.at is in germany, with german laws. They seem to ship from germany to austria. According to german law it is not allowd to export movies wich are banned like Braindead or old Dawn of the Dead.

Q: How to distinguish between german and austrian releases?
A: There is not a rule of thumb on that. Some indicators:
Release Company: "NSM", "XT", "Illusions" are known austrian companies.
FSK Logo: Some movies with banned versions have FSK rated cutted, counterparts in germany, but the austrian releases are not rated, so missing the big ugly logos.
If you understand german: http://www.ofdb.deview.php?page=start is a good site with helpful informations on different releases.
Last help: Ask if you have questions. If you have release specific questions, put them in the forum. I am sure most people in this forum, who knows the answer, would help.

One thing I was wondering about when I saw this thread... I bought Sweatshop (Uncut) from Amazon.de. If they generally don't sell NSM releases, why do they have that one? Is this a sign of good things to come, or just a fluke?

As long as the movie is neither "indiziert" (indicated) by the BPjM nor "beschlagnahmt" (banned) they may sell it, even without german FSK or SPIO rating. It is not that Amazon.de does not generally sell movies from NSM.

If you search NSM Records at Amazon.de (or .at) you'll find 5 pages (58) of results.
