Anyone have an inside scoop when this film will come out on blu ray in the U.S.? I know a German version had been released and it is region free but all my blu ray discs are local so I won't be getting that. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

No clue. A DVD of this film is pointless, I'm not watching this again till it hits blu.

If it has to come to a point where you really want it, import it. That's my answer to most films that are on Blu-ray outside of the U.S.

I'm afraid the German version isn't worth having. The transfer is very variable, and I recall at least one shot that is literally lost in a blizzard of grain.

I hope this fine film will eventually get a decent HD transfer, but I'm not holding my breath.

I've just noticed that this film was released on BD in South Korea in January. Here's a link to it at the 2DVD store:

http://www.k2dvd.com/shop/p_detail.a...=Comedy/Drama#

I have no idea whether the transfer is the same as the disappointing one used for the German edition or a new one. Does anyone know?

Incidentally the South Korean edition also comes with a CD of the music score.

There's also a Japanese release, which I might get in fairly soon.

Still no Blu-Ray 7 years later, but the DVD is very good, with excellent and very active 5.1 audio. The movie is so beautifully made that it's a shame there's no HD disc, but the DVD remains a nice enough option. Mine came with a maroon faux-leather bookmark too. It's pretty weird that this movie fell through the cracks so completely. Everyone I show it to is fascinated by it.
