For the love of all that is Holy, please switch that dreadful 3D art with the 2D artwork.

I agree, they did the same damn thing with the theatrical 3D version but with Gandalf.

Weta did the statues for the LOTR EE box-sets and they were EXCELLENTLY done and not cheap plastic cash in models - they were actual, good quality statues (and fairly cheap if I recall - £44 ish each)

I have to disagree. The statues Sideshow-Weta did for the LOTR EE were pretty cheap and horrible - had to be because of the money they were given to make them (almost non-existent). As a collector of their stuff the difference in quality between the stuff they sold directly and the stuff given away with the DVD sets was like the difference between night and day.

Sounds to me like maybe you got a dud set or something as the quality and finish on mine are excellent, especially when you consider the usual plastic standard for cheap movie box set models - the Jurassic Park trilogy model is especially poor and cheap looking (for example). The LOTR EE statues are actual statues, not cheap toy-like models.

You cant say that for the price they arent excellent value for money (worked out about £25 for the statue once DVD price was deducted)? I mean sure if you want to pay a few ton for a statue, obviously the quality and detail will but much richer (maybe your collector of high end statues/figures and so expected more or dislike seeing the difference in finish from a £25 model vs a £300 one), but those box sets are stunning IMO and I for one am looking forward to the Hobbit Trilogy sets if the LOTR EE sets are anything to go by.

Mine just shipped out today (locally...in Australia). Not complaining, snagged the 3D set for under $50

Collectors Editions - Slipcover
US - The Hobbit Extended Edition - Collectors Box Set

Really pleased with this set. The artwork on the box is amazing. The statue fits my LOTR collection perfectly, and very very happy with the embossed lenticular slipcover which has very fine detail to make it look old and dated.

Just a quick question...for those who live in the UK and have ordered from Amazon.com, are the discs region locked to USA?

I was going to order from Amazon.de, but if the USA discs work here in the UK, I'll order from Amazon.com

Thanks in advance.
